1.4.5 Connection to the R&S UPL
The R&S UPZ is connected to the R&S UPL via a serial 9-contact RS-232-C extension
cable (
no
null modem cable) using the R&S UPL's COM1 interface.
Thus, the R&S UPL can still be remote-controlled via its COM2 interface. As an
alternative, the mouse can be connected to COM2 so it can be used to control the
R&S UPL.
In the R&S UPZ, the extension cable is plugged into the D-sub female connector
labelled "FROM PREVIOUS". When interconnecting the two instruments, ensure that
the cable has a good ground contact (screw connector casing) in order to avoid EMC
problems.
The data rate is 19200 baud, no parity, 8 bits and 1 stop bit, and is permanently set in
the R&S UPZ. If the R&S UPZ is to be controlled via another instrument, the latter has
to be adapted to the preset interface parameters of the R&S UPZ.
