6 THEORY OF OPERATION
VRAE
monitor uses up to five different sensors to measure
a variety of gases. A newly developed thermal conductivity
sensor is combined with a catalytic combustible gas sensor
(See Figure 6.1). The thermal conductivity sensor will
detect a broad range of gases. Up to three electrochemical
toxic gas sensors (four in PGM-7840 model) can be
installed in the monitor to measure inorganic toxic gases.
Many different type of toxic sensors are offered. They can
be plugged into these three sensor sockets and are
interchangeable. An electrochemical sensor is used to
measure oxygen concentration in PGM-7800 model.
