The device may only be put into operation with limit switches (internal or external) connected. The limit
switches must be set in such a way that the thrust tube comes to a standstill before the mechanical fi-
nal position at maximum speed.
Risk of injury caused by moving parts (thrust tube for example)
Do not touch in moving parts during operation.
Do not linger in range of dangers in front of the thrust tube.
Before putting into operation make sure there are no persons in front of the thrust
tube.
The function and setting of the final position limitation must be checked in inching mode first. When
setting the final position limitation, system-related run-on must be taken into consideration depending
on the load and adjustment speed. This run-on can be several centimetres. At high setting speeds the
devices are usually equipped with a brake. However, run-on caused by the switching speed of the
brake still needs to be taken into consideration (60 - 120 mm/sec depending, brake switched by AC).
The precise approach of final and intermediate positions cannot be exactly reproduced under chan-
ging operating conditions in the case of RACO electrical cylinders with self-locking trapezoidal thread
spindles. It can fluctuate from a few millimetres to a few centimetres, depending on the run-in state
between spindle and nut, the condition of the lubricant and the load.
An electrical cylinder with a ball spindle system must never be moved against a fixed stop, whether in-
ternal or external. This damages the ball thread drive and will destroy it in the long term.
If it is possible that impermissible high impulse forces occur during travel towards the mechanical final
stop position, measures must be taken to ensure the moving masses are slowed down before the stop
is reached in order to protect the ball spindle system from damage.
At high travel speeds and large masses, abrupt acceleration and slowing (e.g. brake) must always be
avoided. A converter must be used to avoid the acceleration and slowing process through ramps.
During commissioning care must be taken that the motor current consumption under load does not ex-
ceed the rated current specified on the type plate for any length of time. Heed the switch-on
duration/mode of operation.
In the case of electrical cylinders with built-on gears or gear motors, particularly worm and flat gears,
the installation position specified in the order must always be heeded. If no specifications were made
or a different installation position is necessary, please contact our technicians at RACO.
To prevent any blocking or damage of the cylinder the internal end positions should never be reached.
By setting the limit switches the run-on have to be observed according the listed data in diagram at-
tached, so that the actuator stops before the end of the screw is reached.
