2.2.1.2Proper use
RACO electrical cylinders are intended for use in commercial and industrial applications, in machinery
or systems or for the operation or movement of moving parts in accordance with national/regional reg-
ulations on safety and accident prevention.
If RACO electrical cylinders are used for the lifting or transport of people, or are installed in machinery
and systems that fulfil such a purpose, the equipment manufacturer is responsible for observing the
special regulations applying to such equipment.
Since the electric actuator is not self-locking in every model it is important that the thrust unit is se -
cured against a crash in case the unit is installed vertically.
Proper use also covers:
–
the observance of the information contained in these operating instructions, and in particular the
safety instructions
–
operation of the equipment within the specified technical limits (see Technical Data on the data
sheet)
–
observance of the instructions on commissioning, installation, maintenance etc.
–
avoidance of abrupt starting and braking with heavy loads at high travel speeds
–
avoidance of excessive transverse- and torsion forces on the RACO electrical cylinder.
2.2.1.3 Obligations of the operator
Safety devices must not be removed, safety switches must not be used improperly, bridged or
covered.
Danger areas must not be entered or made accessible.
The user is responsible for ensuring that the machine is only operated when in proper working order.
Danger areas between RACO electrical cylinders and customer equipment must be suitably protected
by the operator.
The operator must have protection devices, locking devices and couplings to RACO electrical
cylinders checked at least once per year by a specialist technician for their safe condition.
