d.
Clean the receiver-transmitter side connector contacts by rubbing with a soft pencil eraser.
6-4
TROUBLESHOOTING.
Tables 6-5 and 6-6 describe possible system malfunctions, their probable cause(s), and the corrective action required by
the operator or the repair specialist to return the equipment to an operational state. All solutions which suggest
replacement of an item assume that the item used to make the replacement is a known good item.
Table 6-5 contains the symptoms of possible system malfunctions which can be acted on by the operator. Only those
procedures contained within Table 6-5 are authorized to be performed by the operator. Table 6-6 identifies additional
possible system malfunctions that can be corrected by the repair specialist. Troubleshooting procedures contained in
Tables 6-5 and 6-6 are authorized to be performed by the repair specialist. Prior to performing any repair actions, the
repair specialist should perform the following inspections:
a.
The repair specialist should inspect those items which were inspected by the operator.
b.
Inspect the internal components for signs of deterioration, discoloration, or charring. Check for melted
insulation and damage, cracked or broken components.
c.
Inspect the printed circuit boards for damaged tracks, loose connections, corrosion, or other sign of
deterioration.
d.
Inspect the printed circuit (PC) connectors, interface connectors, and chassis wiring for excessive wear,
looseness, misalignment, corrosion, or other signs of deterioration.
Before referring to Tables 6-5 or 6-6, ensure that the DISPLAY switch (1, Figure 4-1) is in the ON position, that the
receiver-transmitters are correctly programmed and controls are properly set, and that a matching configuration of
receiver-transmitters, antennas, and diplexers is installed. Refer to Table 6-7 for cross-reference to removal/replacement
procedures.
