Configuration
When a user is logged into the Management GUI and no previously configured physical library has been
found, a configuration selection pane opens automatically (see
Figure 10
); if the configuration has been
performed, this pane will not appear. Choose the configuration method.

•
Automatic Configuration
on page 17 is recommended for the first-time users that have no
experience in configuring the Scalar DLC system.
•
Wizard-based
Manual Configuration
on page 18 is recommended for the users with basic
knowledge about the configuration of the Scalar DLC.
•
Advanced Configuration
on page 18 is designed for the advanced users that have enough
experience to perform all configuration manually.
•
After the basic configuration is finished, an
Additional Configuration
on page 23 could be performed.
Some client interfaces have certain limitations concerning the names of used objects, for example, some
DAS-based applications do not recognize the mailbox name for
Insert
command other than
Ixx
(xx means
any two alphanumeric characters). To avoid such issues, be sure that the objects created and configured
by means of the Scalar DLC Management GUI are named as shown in the
Table 6
.
Note
Some customer (client) applications do understand the capitalization difference (A and
a), the others do not. ADIC recommends using the common alpha-model (either capitals
or small letters in all object names).
ADIC also strongly does not recommend using spaces (“ “), underscores (“_”), hyphens
(“-”) and other symbols in the object names. Even when the Scalar DLC Management
GUI permits this, the client application may not recognize the appropriate object.
