BASIC OPERATIONS
7.1 OVERVIEW: Manual vs. Automatic Modes
7.2 Start a Pump in Manual Mode
7.3 Start a Pump in Auto Mode
MANUAL MODE
AUTOMATIC MODE
• Manual mode bypasses
automation and system backup
protections.
• A pump can be operated manually
if its corresponding operator
switch (HOA switch) is in the
HAND position. The operator can
then use the potentiometer to
control the pump speed.
Note: For systems in which the
main pumps alternate between
using a single VFD, only the Lead
pump will be capable of variable
speeds.
• The pump controller
automatically controls
the pump, turning it
ON or OFF and typically
varying its speed
according to a
programmed process.
• A pump is in AUTO
mode if its correspond-
ing operator switch
(HOA) is in the AUTO
position.
CAUTION! If the pumping system has been shut-down for a
long time, or if the system is not pressurized, specific start-up
procedures must be performed. Perform the following steps
only if the system has been shut-down temporarily and the
system is pressurized.
