CONTROL PANEL SPECIAL APPLICATIONS
10.1
EXPLOSION ENDANGERED PREMISES PROTECTION
Installation of fire detectors and manual call points in zones where explosive mixtures of gases and
liquid vapours occur is possible in intrinsically safe detector lines. Such circuits provide the [Ex I
b
IIC]
safety category.
Intrinsically safe circuits in the IGNIS 1000 system can be created in conventional detection lines with
an application of the following separators manufactured by STAHL company:
-
single-channel 9167/13-11-00s;
-
double-channel 9167/23-11-00s.
The line parameters should be as follows:
- maximum line resistance should not exceed 2 x 30 Ω (in total of both parts before and behind
a separator);
- line should be terminated with a 5.6 kΩ/0.5 W end-of-line resistor;
- total fire detectors quiescent current should not be higher than 0.5 mA;
- the following maximum quantities of currently manufactured Ex detectors are allowed to be
installed behind an intrinsically safe separator:
-
DIO-37Ex intrinsically safe ionisation smoke detector – 8 pcs., or
-
DUR-40Ex intrinsically safe optical smoke detector – 8 pcs., or
-
TUN-38Ex intrinsically safe heat detector – 4 pcs. (KDB certificate limitation), or
-
PUO-35Ex intrinsically safe flame detector – 1 pc. (KDB certificate limitation), or
-
ROP intrinsically safe manual call points (with 1 kΩ/0.5 W resistor) – 10 pcs., or
-
10 other manufacturer (e.g. Det Tronics) detector connectors that require an
installation in parallel of an alarm 1 kΩ/0.5 W resistor.
NOTE:
A detection line short circuit behind a separator is signalled as a fire alarm. A line short circuit
between the separator and the control panel is always signalled as a fault. Any separator should be
installed in an intrinsically safe zone, directly before an endangered zone. An intrinsically safe line
with a separator should be led with an unscreened cable provided for explosion hazardous zones.

INPUT AND OUTPUT CIRCUIT CONNECTING TERMINALS
The control panel is equipped with a set of connecting terminals designed for connection of alarm
installation wires, external devices and mains power supply (Fig. 4). The terminals enable connection
of wires of a maximum diameter at 1.2 mm and a cross section at 1.5 mm

. The recommended
disruption immunity is provided by usage of 1 x 2 x 0.8 screened conductors.
In the standard execution the IGNIS 1240 control panel is equipped with two line module ML1-1240
and ML2-1240 with a possibility to extend it by adding the ML3-1240 module. Every line module
supports:
o
8 detection lines;
o
1 monitoring line;
o
1 alarm line;
o
9 relays (8 programmable ones of the 1
st
stage alarm, 1 of general fault or alarm).
