4.6. Operation Controlled by PC
4.6.1. General Information
You can control operation of your IT-081 TV Level Meter via PC. For connection to
PC use
USB
connector on the right panel of your Meter. The IT-081 package contains the
cable for connection to PC and a CD with the software, which allows performing the
following operations:
1. Measuring of the video carrier level, carrier to noise (C/N) ratio, video to
audio (V/A) ratio within TV signal spectrum for TV channels specified by the
channel plan.
2. Measuring of the spectrum within an arbitrary frequency band
(from 5 to 900 MHz).
3. Viewing and saving of data logger pages.
4. Editing of channel plans.
5. Saving and documenting of measurement results.
6. Viewing and editing of the limit plans.
4.6.2. PC Configuration Requirements
Minimal system requirements for your PC:
1. Microsoft Windows XP or higher operating system;
2. RAM capacity: 128 MB;
3. 25 MB of hard drive free space;
4. USB 2.0 support.
4.6.3. Software Installation
The installation of the required software is executed by
Install ViewIt08C.exe
program, which performs all the actions necessary for saving of the program to the
computer hard drive:
a) before installation, close the active application if it has been installed before.
To proceed with installation you should log in under administrator’s rights;
b) if you are using a CD for installation, place the CD into the disk drive. Press
Install ViewIt08C
when the disk menu appears. If you received the software
in some different way, just run the
Install ViewIt08C.exe
file;
c) after you have started the installation program, the installation wizard window
will appear. Click
Next
to initialize installation;
d) then select the folder where you want to save the Meter program files. By
default, the files are saved into
C:\Program
Files\PLANAR\IT08C\ViewIT08C
. To save the files into a different folder,
click
Browse
button. Select the required path and click
OKB
;
e) the following steps will be fulfilled automatically. If everything is correct, the
information window indicating successful installation will appear on the
screen. Click
Finish
to complete the installation.
After the installation has been completed, a new folder
PLANAR\IT08C\ViewIT08C
containing a shortcut for accessing the program will be created in the
Start
menu.
4.6.4. Starting the Program
Connect the Meter to PC using the cable supplied in the package. Switch the power
of the Meter on and select in the main menu the mode of operation controlled by PC. The
icon corresponds to this mode.
During the first connection of the Meter to PC it is necessary to perform the USB
driver installation. To proceed with installation, you should log in under administrator’s
rights. Driver installation is performed by standard Windows application. The driver files
are located in the
Driver
folder of the Meter program directory (by default the path is:
