B. Disassemble the Reader to set jumper pins for sector size
Jumpers on the lower circuit board of the DR-D504X reader are used
to set the sector size. Follow the steps below to disassemble the read-
er, set the sector size, and to reassemble the reader: See
Figure 4-5,
Disassembling the Reader to Set Sector Size with Jumper Pins.
1. Remove the two screws on the back of the unit.
See
Figure 4.5
.
The front of the unit has the SCSI connector on it.
2. Disconnect three white cable connectors on the front and one
while cable connector on the back.
Detach the connector on
the back from the circuit boards, not from the servo board. It
will then be easier to reattach.
3. Slide the CD-ROM assembly,
a double circuit board, out
through the front of the drive.
4. Gently, pull the circuit boards apart.
There are connectors on
each board, holding the upper and lower sections together. The
bottom board contains a 50 pin SCSI connector, removable
firmware and the green jumper pins. When you look at the lower
board from the front, with the SCSI connector facing you, the
jumper pins will be located at the far end of the board. The pin at
the right side, #6, sets the sector size. The default is all pins
jumpered. Jumpered sets pin 6 for 2048 bytes. If you remove the
pin from either post, the sector size will be set at 512 bytes. For
more information on these jumper pins see page C-2.
5. Reconnect the boards and slide them back into the housing
after the proper sector size is set, or other settings are changed.
Align the boards with the track inside the housing. This is impor-
tant, to prevent the ROMB Assembly from shorting to the chassis.
6. Reattach the white connector on the rear of the reader, then
reattach the three connectors on the front.
7. Replace the two screws on the rear panel
of the assembly.
8. Re-strap all cables
on the exterior to assure there is no slack. If
there is slack, the disc transporter can snag them while moving
inside the DRM-5004X.
9. Proceed to Section 4.2.2
, if the reader is to be configured on the
same SCSI chain as others within the unit. If the termination
needs to be set to ON, go to Point C on page 4-9.
