3.5 Preparing the DRM-5004X for Operation
Before the DRM-5004x can be tested and operated, do the following
with the power turned off:
1. Confirm that the voltage selector switch is set at 120 V
for opera-
tion in the United States and Canada. Voltage selector switch
is set at 230 V for operation in Europe. See
Figure 3-3
&

.
2. With the power turned off, place the SCSI Bus Terminator on
connector “B”
located on the back panel of the DRM-5004X.
CAUTION
: Do not install or remove the SCSI Bus Terminator
or SCSI cables with the power turned on. It could damage the
DRM-5004X. It is recommended that both the unit and the
computer be powered OFF when attaching or removing SCSI
cables or termination blocks.
3. Unlock and open the front door
to check the switch settings on
the inside front right rail.
4. Check DIP switches on the inside front rail.
They should be set to
the “OFF” position (factory default). If the DIP switches are not
set to the “OFF” position, switch them to “OFF”. See
Figure
3-4
, Switches on Inside Front Rail - A.
5. Check the rotary switch on the inside front rail.
It should be set
to “0”. If it is not set to “0” rotate the switch until it reads “0”
See
Figure 3-4
, - Switches on Inside Front Rail - B.
6. Connect the power cord
to the DRM-5004X and
do not yet plug
the cord into a grounded wall outlet or power on the unit.
7. Connect the SCSI cable to connector “A”
located on the back
panel of the DRM-5004X and connect the SCSI cable to the
appropriate connector on the computer. See
Figure 3-5
, Middle
Rear Panel Connection Board.
8. Confirm that the SCSI ID settings on the back panel
are set cor-
rectly. The default settings are “1 2 3 4 5”. Set the SCSI ID
switches by rotating the switches on the middle rear panel.
Each SCSI ID should have a different number. See
Figure 3-5
,
Middle Rear Panel Connection Board and
Figure 3-6
, SCSI ID
Switches. The DRM-5004X has five SCSI ID settings, one for
the changer mechanism controller and four more, one for each
