Custom Configuration
4.4.7 Enable Power for the Writer Installed in Drive Bay Four
After the reader is installed and before the DRM-5004X is powered
ON, enable power for drive bay 4 by attaching connector three to a
powered post on the rear of the unit. Refer to
Figure 4-31
and follow
these steps:
1. Turn OFF the DRM-5004X and disconnect the power cord
from
wall outlet.
2. Open the rear Upper Panel Cover by removing the screws.
3. There are four connectors on the lower right corner of the main
board.
These connect the drive units to four power supplies.
See
Figure 4-31,
Power Posts. These posts provide power for
drives 1 through 4, beginning at the top and counting down
(See diagram labels). The posts on the right side provide
power, those to the left are non-powered.
4. Move the non-powered connector for drive bay 4 to its corre-
sponding powered post.
Leave the connector for the empty
drive bays on the non-powered posts.
5. Replace the rear Upper Panel Cover and re-attach screws.
6. Reconnect the power cable to the wall outlet.
7. Power ON the DRM-5004X.
8. Confirm that the writer is receiving power
by looking directly
into the writer and seeing the LED toward the rear.
NOTE:
The DRM-5004X is typically shipped with two readers installed
and power connected for them as installed in the first two drive bays.
If you fail to connect power for an additional third or fourth drive no
damage will occur, but drives will not function.
WARNING:
If you remove a drive for which power has been enabled,
make sure to remove power from the respective power post. If power
is connected, for a drive that is not installed, the DRM-5004X will be
damaged.
