Connecting Ethernet networks
The PSI-MODEM-SHDSL/ETH has an Ethernet interface on the front in RJ45 format, to
which only twisted pair cables with an impedance of 100
can be connected. You can con-
nect the device to the Ethernet network with a simple patch cable CAT5 (Order No.
2832263, FL CAT5 PATCH 0.5). IPv4 and IPv6 transparent protocol data packets can be
transmitted via the Ethernet interface.
Auto negotiation
The device is set to "Auto negotiation" by default. This allows the device to automatically ne-
gotiate with devices connected to the LAN and configure them for the maximum possible
transmission speed and duplex mode. If necessary, you can set transmission rates of
10 Mbps or 100 Mbps via the PSI-CONF configuration software and switch between half
and full duplex modes.
Auto crossing
The device supports "auto crossing". Auto crossing enables auto crossing of the transmit
and receive cables. This means that you can connect the devices with a 1:1-wired cable or
a crossover cable.
Connecting
•
Push the Ethernet cable with the crimped RJ45 connector into the RJ45 interface until
the plug engages with a click. Observe the connector coding.

Checking the connection
The LEDs indicate (see also page 38):
–
LINK: whether the connection has been established
–
ERR: whether an error occurred
–
ACT: whether data traffic is taking place
Please note that the "ERR" LED can also refer to an SHDSL connection.
WARNING: Electrical voltage
The device may only be connected to devices that meet the requirements of EN 60950.
NOTE: Malfunction
Only use shielded twisted pair cables and corresponding shielded RJ45 connectors.
Make sure the signal assignment of the connector is correct.
