5.3 Connecting the device
WARNING: Incorrect connection may result in damage to equipment and/or seri-
ous personal injury.
The electrical connection, startup, and operation of this device may only be performed by
qualified personnel.
With respect to the safety notes in this text, qualified personnel are persons who are au-
thorized to start up, to ground, and to mark devices, systems, and equipment according
to the standards of safety technology. In addition, these persons must be familiar with all
warning instructions and maintenance measures in this text.
Disregarding this warning may result in damage to equipment and/or serious personal in-
jury.
WARNING: Danger of electric shock
During operation, certain parts of this device may carry hazardous voltages. Disregarding
this warning may result in property damage and/or serious personal injury.
Before startup, observe the following:
– Mains connection must be performed by specialist personnel and protection against
electric shock must be ensured.
– It must be possible to switch off the device outside the power supply according to the
regulations in EN 60950 (e.g., by line protection on the primary side).
– The protective conductor must be connected.
– All feed lines must have sufficient fuse protection and must be the correct size.
– All output cables must be the correct size for the maximum device output current or
have separate fuse protection.
– Sufficient convection must be guaranteed.
– The device may only be connected to devices that satisfy the requirements of
EN 60950 (Safety of information technology equipment).
