Fiber Optic Probe SOPs
NOTE: If you have a RamanFlex 400F with two fiber optic probes, ensure that the probe not
in use is covered.
NOTE: The SOPs included on the following pages are only appropriate for a standard fiber
optic probe. For details of how to acquire data using a triggered fiber optic probe, see
the
Raman Triggered Fiber Optic Probe
leaflet (L1321887).
SOP-5: Selecting the Fiber Optic Probe
1.
Ensure the instrument is switched on, if not follow SOP-1.
2.
Select Setup
from the Instrument menu in Spectrum.
The Scan and Instrument Setup dialog is displayed.
3.
Click
.
4.
In the Accessory Configuration section, ensure that Fiber Optic Probe is selected in
the Beam Path drop-down list.
NOTE: If you have a RamanFlex 400F with two fiber optic probes, select Fiber Optic
Probe 1 or Fiber Optic Probe 2 from the Beam Path drop-down list, as applicable.
5.
Ensure that the appropriate laser safety precautions are being observed.
6.
To setup an experiment and collect data using the FOP please refer to the following
SOPs:
SOP-3 Setting up and saving experiment parameters;
SOP-4 Collecting a Spectrum.
The probe can now be positioned so as to achieve the best spectrum.
Laser light will be emitted from the probe during data collection and when the software is
running in Spectral Preview mode.
