General Operating Conditions
This instrument has been designed and tested in accordance with the safety requirements of
the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The spectrometer conforms to IEC
publication 61010-2-010 (‘Safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement,
control and laboratory use – particular requirements for laboratory equipment for the heating
of materials’) as it applies to IEC Class 1 (earthed) appliances and therefore meets the
requirements of EC Low Voltage Directive 73/23/EEC, amended by 93/68/EEC.
Only use the instrument indoors and under the following conditions:
Temperature 15
o
C to 35
o
C
Relative Humidity
75% maximum (non-condensing)
If possible, avoid any adjustment, maintenance and repair of the opened, operating
instrument. If any adjustment, maintenance and repair of the opened instrument are
necessary, this must be done by a responsible person who is aware of the hazard involved.
Whenever it is likely that the instrument is unsafe, make it inoperative. The instrument may
be unsafe if it:

Shows visible damage;
•
Fails to perform the intended measurement;
•
Has been subjected to prolonged storage in unfavorable conditions;
•
Has been subjected to severe transport stresses.
