Introduction
Introduction
The following example uses a Model 3201 as the remote site router. Configuring the Model 3201 for RIP
application will involve the following steps:
•
Ethernet port IP address configuration
•
Ethernet Port IP Address Configuration
•
G.SHDSL Layer Configuration
Ethernet port IP address configuration
Since this is a routed connection, the 3201 will most likely reside in a different network than the 3224 or
6081RC. Assign IP address 192.168.254.10 for the Ethernet interface of the model 3201 either through the
console port or the web interface (refer to the Model 3201 User Guide for more information)
G.SHDSL layer configuration
The 3201 ships from the factory set to operate in Remote (slave) mode, while the 3224 and 6081RC operate
always in Central mode (master), in this arrangement, the 3201 will accept (during link negotiation phase)
G.SHDSL configuration—such as speed—from the Model 3224. The only setting that is not accepted by the
3201 during link negotiation is annex mode. Configure the annex mode manually for annex B to match annex
mode on the Model 3224, otherwise the two units will not link up.
