8. Move the front window to the standby mode position (refer to Section VI, paragraph h. Front Window)
9. Activate the fan at high speed.
10. Allow disinfectant to react as recommended by manufacturer, and then operate the workstation for at least
20 minutes at high speed so that released aerosols can be absorbed by the filters.
Cleaning:
1. Move the front window to the cleaning position mode (refer to Section VI, paragraph h. Front Window)
2. Wipe the surfaces clean using a clean cloth and plenty of clear water.
3. Remove dirt residues and deposits thoroughly.
4. Remove the cleaning liquid from the floor pan and wipe all sample chamber surfaces dry.
Final disinfection:
1. Spray disinfectant on all sample chamber surfaces or wipe the surfaces clean with disinfectant.
2. Allow disinfectant to react as recommended by manufacturer, and then operate the workstation for at least
20 minutes at high speed so that released aerosols can be absorbed by the filter.
3. Move the front window to the standby mode position (refer to Section VI, paragraph h. Front Window)
4. Move the front window to the safety mode position (refer to Section VI, paragraph h. Front Window)
c. UV disinfection:
The UV disinfection is recommended to be taken after the wipe/spray disinfection. The UV disinfection can be
performed by using the optional integrated UV lamps in the MARS. The run time of the routine can be preset from
the control panel.
To start the UV disinfection routine, please refer to the section “Programming and Controlling
the UV light timer” for further information
WARNING: The radiation of the UV-lamps causes skin burns and conjunctivitis within
minutes. For this reasons skin and eyes must be protected from direct radiation.
d. Cleaning of the exterior surfaces.
Wipe the exterior surfaces of the workstation using a solution of warm water and commercial dishwasher solution,
then, wipe exterior surfaces dry using a soft, clean cloth.
e. Cleaning of the floor pan.
Clean the floor pan using the recommended disinfectant.
1. Remove the stainless steel working plates from the sample chamber
In a MARS IVF workstation, in order to clean the floor pan, the heated working
plates can be removed. You need to carefully lift it using the handle mounted in
the grille, and disconnect the plugs to the heated surface. By doing so, make sure
that the microscope parts are not blocked by the front window. Be aware that the
heated working area is heavy.
2. Remove dirt residues and deposits thoroughly
3. Spray the recommended disinfectant and allow disinfectant to react as recommended by manufacturer.
4. Wipe the floor pan to dry the floor pan
