6.0 CALIBRATION
Each new AirSTAR instrument is factory calibrated and supplied with a
calibration report. This chapter describes the procedure and requirements for
calibration of the individual aspects of AirSTAR.
Orbis BV recommends performing a full calibration at least once a year. In case
calibration is combined with annual maintenance, it is recommended to start
with the maintenance (chapter 8).
6.1 CALIBRATION INTRODUCTION
Calibration is performed in the service menu, accessible only with “Service
level” login (chapter 4.3.8).

Typically, calibration is performed by comparing the instrument’s readout value
with the value produced by a calibrated measuring device, and entering the
difference as an offset in the calibration settings.
Other than actual calibration settings, the service menu also allows other
settings such as cooling power, detection sensitivity, idle temperature, etc. The
specifics of these settings are not handled in this calibration chapter.
This chapter only focuses on the different aspects that actually need to be
calibrated, which are:
- ColdBlock – cooling jacket temperature
- CFPP Head – pressure sensor for vacuum
- CFPP Head – temperature
- CPPP Head – temperature
- PT-100 probe – temperature
