It is now time to start the test. Depending on the “Start at” temperature
that is set in the method settings (image 9), pressing the “play” button will
either command the instrument to:
- start the test at “START” (which indicates ambient temperature):
the first measurement will be made at the first whole degree lower than the
room temperature of the sample (example: sample temperature at start is
21.7 ºC > first measurement made at 20 ºC.)
OR
- start the test with the first measurement being made at the sample
temperature set in the method (example: “Start at: 10 ºC” will command the
instrument to cool the sample down to 10 ºC before the first measurement is
made). NOTE: if the first bath step is a warming step instead of a cooling
step (for instance with a PP method where the bath must be 65 ºC to warm
up the sample to 45 ºC), the steps will be executed according to the
program settings, which means warming up the sample until it reaches 45
ºC and then cooling the sample down. The only thing “Start at” actually
controls is the sample temperature at which the first measurement will take
place. “Start at” does not make the bath skip warming/cooling steps! Make
sure that “Start at” temperature and first cooling step are in logical
correlation with each other”.

Alternative to the above point 11, the default method setting for “Start at
temperature” can be overridden by Press+Hold the “play” button. Enter the
desired first aspiration temperature, for instance 12 ºC (image 10), press
“done”, and the test will now start. NOTE: if the first bath step is a warming
step instead of a cooling step (for instance with a PP method where the bath
must be 65 ºC to warm up the sample to 45 ºC), the steps will be executed
according to the program settings, which means warming up the sample
until it reaches 45 ºC and then cooling the sample down. The only thing
“Start at” actually controls is the sample temperature at which the first
measurement will take place. “Start at” does not make the bath skip
warming/cooling steps!

The test can now be monitored in both the “Status screen” and the
“Report screen”. To switch between Status Screen and Report Screen, slide
page left and right (image 11).
