4.5 Ethernet firmware update
The current version of the firmware is displayed in the web DEMO interface at the top
of the page:
If a new version of the firmware is available, this can be loaded onto the adaptive lens
onboard electronics.
Before starting the update procedure, the firewall settings must be changed:
ports 9, 67, 68 and 69 have to be opened, both in input and in output.
To do this, two files are required:
- AOL Bootloader.exe
- the binary file (.bin) containing the new firmware release
Both AOL Bootloader.exe and the .bin files can be found on the Opto-Engineering
website.
If these two files are available, the procedure of the firmware update is the following:
1) Power the adaptive lens
2) Open AOL Bootloader.exe
3) Insert the
MAC address
of the device, the local IP address and the device
IP address
:
for example, a possible set of data could be
88-5F-E8-20-00-09
,
192.168.1.10
and
192.168.1.10
, respectively.
4) Select the .bin file and click
Program
.
5) If everything is ok, the update procedure will start and the a progress bar will appear
in the bottom of the window, indicating the percentage of completion.
Otherwise a warning window will appear indicating a possible reason for the
malfunction.
6) After the update procedure, open the browser and connect to
192.168.1.200
(or another ip address, if previously changed): the software version can be seen
at the top of the page. Alternatively, use the
RS232
communication protocol to check
the firmware version of the
AOL0223X
.
