4.4.3 Examples
This Paragraph shows some examples of the lens configuration via RS232
communication protocol. The wiring connections are not taken into account in the
following examples.
The serial command strings are within quotes (“”) and the command follows.
Example 1
: Manual calibration of the adaptive lens
• “10” : turn on the onboard electronics of the adaptive lens;
• “31” : get the current focusing power of the lens. It will be equal to 0%.
• “30 40”: set the focusing power equal to 40%. The optical properties of the lens will
change and a new focal plane will be focused. If 40% is not enough, a higher value
will be necessary;
• “30 70”: set the focusing power equal to 70%. A new plane will be properly focused
and, if the focusing is satisfactory, this value can be saved in one of the automatic
loop positions;
• “32 1 70”: set the focusing power of the first position of the automatic test loop
equal to 70%.
• “11”: turn off the onboard electronics of the adaptive lens.
Example 2
: automatic procedure
• “10”: turn on the onboard electronics of the adaptive lens;
• “32 1 70”: set the focusing power of the first position of the automatic test loop
equal to 70%;
• “32 2 60”: set the focusing power of the second position of the automatic test loop
equal to 60%;
• “32 3 20”: set the focusing power of the third position of the automatic test loop
equal to 20%;
• “35 500” : set loop time rest time to 500 ms;
• “12”: start loop procedure;
• “13”: stop loop procedure;
• “11”: turn off the onboard electronics of the adaptive lens.
Example 3
: use the device memory to save/load focusing power values
• “10”: turn on the onboard electronics of the adaptive lens;
• “39 0 20”: save the focusing power (equal to 20%) in the position 0 of the onboard
memory;
• “39 1 40”: save the focusing power (equal to 40%) in the position 1 of the onboard
memory;
• “39 2 60”: save the focusing power (equal to 60%) in the position 2 of the onboard
memory;
• “39 3 0”: save the focusing power (equal to 0%) in the position 3 of the onboard
memory;
• “20 0”: actuate the adaptive lens with focusing power equal to the value present in
location 0 of the onboard memory (equal to 20% in this example);
• “20 1”: actuate the adaptive lens with focusing power equal to the value present in
location 1 of the onboard memory (equal to 40% in this example);
• “20 2”: actuate the adaptive lens with focusing power equal to the value present in
location 2 of the onboard memory (equal to 60% in this example);
• “20 3”: actuate the adaptive lens with focusing power equal to the value present in
location 3 of the onboard memory (equal to 0% in this example);
• “11”: turn off the onboard electronics of the adaptive lens.
