Maintenance
This section describes the routine cleaning and inspection recommended as
regular maintenance.
4-4-1
Cleaning
Clean the PROFIBUS Communication Unit regularly as described below in
order to keep it in an optimum operating condition.
• Regularly wipe the Unit with a dry, soft cloth.
• If a spot cannot be removed with a dry cloth, dampen the cloth with a neu-
tral cleaner, wring out the cloth and wipe the Unit.
!Caution
Never use volatile solvents such as paint thinner, benzine or chemical wipes.
These substances could damage the surface of the Unit.

Inspection
Be sure to inspect the system periodically to keep it in optimum operating con-
dition. In general, inspect the system once or twice a year, but more fre-
quently if the system is used in high temperature or high humidity
environments or dirty/dusty conditions.
Inspection Equipment
Prepare the following equipment before inspecting the system.
Required Equipment
Philips type screwdriver, multimeter, alcohol, and a clean cloth.
Optional Test Equipment
Depending on system conditions, a synchroscope, oscilloscope, thermometer
or hygrometer (to measure humidity) might be needed.
