fields was not completed.
Port errors
Problem I have fax transmission, transfer,
Znak Header or CRC problems in
Windows 3.1 and 3.11.
Solution Modify the SYSTEM.INI file
found in the C:\WINDOWS
directory. In the first paragraph
(boot) is found the following
line:
comm.drv=rhsicomm.drv
Take out rhsi to leave:
comm.drv=comm.drv
In the paragraph (386Enh) add
the following two lines if they
are not present:
COM1FIFO=0
COM2FIFO=0
Problem I have com port problems, the
modem not being recognised by
my Packard Bell PC.
Solution This problem generally happens
with this make of computer
when the application Navigator
has been installed. It modifies
the parameters of the
SYSTEM.INI file.
Edit the SYSTEM.INI file of your
computer. Do a file search to
find it. In the paragraph
(386Enh) of the SYSTEM.INI file
add a semi-colon before the
following line:
Phirport=1 or Phirport=2
After completing the modifica-
tion save it and restart
Windows.
If the problem persists and you
are using Windows 95, restart
in MS-DOS and start the MAP-
COM.EXE utility found in
C:\OLICOMW that will test the
ports as well as the modem. Do
this test on com port 1 and 2
whilst reversing the modem
and mouse connectors.

Problem How can I find out the modem
version I have?
Solution Start Olicom:
Click on ‘?’ in the top right
hand corner then on About
modem.
or:
Enter directly with the key-
board in Olicom the following
string:
ATI
Click on Enter
The version will be displayed,
for example V1.XXX
Problem In Olifax Windows I have the
error code n° 704 or n° 900.
Solution Error code n° 704:
In Setup (Configuration)
choose the following transmis-
sion and reception speeds:
9600 V29 in Fax
Error code n° 900
