OPERATION
OF
THE
CORN
HEAD
The
divider
noses
(1)
are
located
between
the
harvesting
rows
which
open
and
invite
the
rows
of
the
corn
plants
into
the
harvesting
system.
The
stalk
rollers
(2)
grasp
the
stalk
of
the
corn
plant
and
pull
it
down,
passing
it
between
two
plates
placed
above
the
stalk
rollers,
which
allow
the
plant
to
pass
through
the
lower
part
of
the
corn
head
and
retain
the
cobs
of
corn
above
the
plates.
When
the
cob
reaches
and
rests
on
top
of
the
deck
plates,
the
gathering
chains
(3)
convey
the
cobs
with
a
rotating
motion
into
the
central
feeder
(4)
that
carries
the
yield
into
the
conveyor
pipe
of
the
combine
harvester.
STARTING

IN
THE

and
only
then
set

at
full
speed.
After
going
round
the
field
a
few
times,
stop
the
corn

and
turn
off
the
engine.
Make
sure
that
the
moving

are
in
order
and
that
no

occurred.
All
