CHECKING THE CRANKSHAFT
1.Measure
:
·Crankshaft runout
Out of specification→Replace the crankshaft assembly.
TIP
Turn the crankshaft slowly.
Runout limit
:
0.04mm
2.Measure
·Crankshaft width
Out of specification→Replace the crankshaft
3.Check
·Crankshaft sprocket
Damage/wear→Replace the crankshaft.
4.Check
:
·Crankshaft journal
Scratches/wear→Replace the crankshaft.
·Crankshaft journal oil passage
Obstruction→Blow out with compressed air.
CHECK THE BEARINGS
1.Check
:
·Bearings
Clean and lubricate the bearings
,
then rotate the inner race with your finger.
Rough movement→Replace
ASSEMBLING CRANKCASE
1.Install
:
·Timing chain guide

)
Timing chain guide bolt
:
12N.m
2.Cut
:
Gasket“1”
TIP
Cut the gasket as show in the illustration to remove the gasket portion that covers the crankcase opening“a”.
3.Thoroughly clean all the gasket mating surfaces and crankcase mating surfaces
4.Apply
:
·Sealant

onto the crankcase mating surfaces
)
TIP
Do not allow any sealant to come into contact with the oil gallery.
5.Install
·Crankcase gasket
(
onto the crankcase mating surfaces
)
6.Install
·Dowel pin
·Timing chain“1”
·Crankshaft
·Crankcase
(
right
)

onto the crankcase

left
)
“2”

NOTICE
To prevent the timing chain from becoming caught in the crankcase when turning the crankshaft
,
pull the
timing chain using a wire.
