PART 4- RECONNECTING THE RETURN SYSTEM - CONT’D
With the drive arm in the operational position, insert a screw driver or similar instrument into the hole on
the underneath of the drive arm located on the frame side of where the brace arm and drive arm
connect. This is to help to position the block pulley in the right location inside the drive arm.
Wind the return strap onto the return tensioner until the block pulley makes contact with the screwdriver
inserted into the drive arm and note the position of the slot in the return tensioner when this contact is
made..
To position the block pulley correctly inside the drive arm, the return strap must be unwound off the
return tensioner by 3/4 of a turn from the point of contact with the screwdriver.
Once the block pulley is positioned correctly use a 13mm spanner to firmly tighten the lock nut on the
bolt underneath the return tensioner.
This side of the machine is ready to row and should now be tested to see if the strap returns effectively
into the drive arm and onto the drive spool. If the drive strap returns satisfactorily after testing, repeat
the procedure on the other side of the machine if necessary.
If the drive strap does not return satisfactorily retrace the steps of the procedure to find the possible
cause or check the tension of the bungy (see ADJUSTING THE BUNGY TENSION).
If still experiencing difficulties contact the distributor or Oartec by email at [email protected] for advice.
