The hard reset configuration word stored in the Flash memory is 32 bits wide, whereas that stored in the EEPROM
in the BPS field (which is the boot port size) is 8 bits wide.
5.10 Time-Slot Interchanger (TSI)
The MSC711xADS time-slot interchanger is from Infineon, Model PEF20451, and is a member of the SWITI
family. It provides a complete time-slot switch and interface for the H.110 time-division multiplexed (TDM) buses.
The PEF20451 TSI device can switch between local input and output buses as well as between the H.110 bus and
the local bus. The PEF20451 has a capacity of up to 2048 connections. In addition to supporting the newer H-
MVIP and ECTF H. 1x0 standards, the TSI chip is backward compatible with bus standards MVIP-90 and the
Dialogic SC-bus. Local streams can operate on 16 physical inputs and outputs. The data rates are programmable on
each of the 32 physical streams, which are selected in groups of four. The data rates are on a per stream basis as
follows:
• 2.048 Mbps and 4.096 Mbps.
• 8.192 Mbps and 16.384 Mbps.
After buffering, the PEF24451 device interfaces at 8 bits with the MSC711x system bus.

5.11 SLIC SLAC Interface
The RJ-11 connector (PSTN telephone line connector) connects to SLIC and SLAC devices. The SLIC is
LE77d11-X and the SLAC is LE78D110VC, both from Legerity. These devices are actually dual devices, and
because they deal with voice traffic, are termed VoSLIC and VoSLAC. The dual VoSLAC device contains high-
performance circuits that provide A/D and D/A conversion for two sets of voice (codec), loop supervision, and line
diagnostic functions. Fixed-function DSP resources in the device perform modem detection, DTMF detection,
ADPCM voice compression, and echo cancellation. The main functions that can be observed and controlled
through the dual VoSLAC device are:
• Off-hook detection.
• Ring trip detection.
• Line fault indication.
