T10. Lube Drive Shafts
T11. Check Engine Oil Level
Check the oil level daily with the
engine stopped.
If necessary, add
sufficient oil to raise the level to the
proper mark on the dipstick. All diesel
engines are designed to use some oil, so
periodic addition of oil is normal.
If the oil level is constantly above normal
and excess lube oil has not been added
to the crankcase, contact the engine
maker's authorized service outlet listed in
the Engine Manual. Fuel or coolant
dilution of lube oil can result in serious
engine damage.
Never
operate the engine with the oil
level below the "L" (low) mark or above
the "H" (high) mark on the oil dipstick.
Wait at least 15 minutes after shutting off
the engine to check the oil. This allows
time for the oil to drain to the oil pan.
DO NOT add makeup oil until the oil
level is BELOW the ADD mark on
dipstick. John Deere ENGINE BREAK-
IN OIL (TY22041) should be used to
make up any oil consumed during the
break-in period.
