6.2 Ethernet/Optic Fibre Network Setup
Where ethernet communication further than 100m are required for the network
mentioned in section 6, the long-distance cables can be replaced with optic fibre, as
shown in the figure below. The ethernet signals are converted to and from optic
signals, by using a pair of ethernet/optic fibre converters. Either Single-Mode
converters and cable, with a maximum distance of 20km, or Multi-Mode converter and
cable, with a maximum distance of 2km, may be used. These converters require a
12V dc power supply, which can be supplied by the NEMTEK Power Pack. The rest of
the network configuration remains the same as explained in section 6.1.
