Removing the SCSI Backplane
!
CAUTION
The SCSI Backplane board can be extremely sensitive
to ESD and always requires careful handling. After
removing it from the system, place it component-side
up on a nonconductive, static-free surface to prevent
shorting out. Do not slide the SCSI Backplane board
over any surface.
1.
Open the front door, see "Front View with Front Door Opened" in
Chapter 2.
2.
Power off the system and ensure it is disconnected from the ac wall outlet.
3.
Remove the right side panel, see "Removing a Side Panel" earlier in this
section.

CAUTION
Observe static precautions.
4.
Remove the SAF-TE card, see "Removing the SAF-TE Card" above.
5.
Remove all the hard disk drives in the SCSI disk drive bays, see "Hard Disk
Drives" earlier in this section.
6.
Remove the four screws (A) securing the fan housing (B) to the back of the
SCSI disk drive bays and move the housing to the right out of the way (see
Figure below).
