Upgrades and Options
18.
Reinstall the front plastic cover, top cover, the side
cover, and power on the system. It may be necessary
to run the SCU as described in the Configuring Your
System chapter.
Removing a 5 1/4-Inch Device or 3 1/2-Inch Diskette Drive
1.
Power off the system and remove the left side panel
(as viewed from front) as described earlier in this
chapter.
2.
Remove the front plastic cover, refer to Installing a
5 1/4-Inch Device or 3 1/2-Inch Diskette Drive as
described earlier in this chapter.
3.
Observe the safety and ESD precautions listed at
the beginning of this chapter.
4.
Remove the two screws that secure the device side
rails to the front of the chassis.
5.
Disconnect the signal and power cables from the
back of the drive.
6.
Slide drive out the front of the bay, and place on an
antistatic surface.
7.
Remove and save the side rails and screws.
8.
Place drive in an antistatic wrapper.
9.
To cover an empty bay, install a blank panel tray in
the bay.(Figure 5-24).
10.
Attached the side rails and screws just saved to a
reusable blank panel tray previously removed.
11.
Engage the blank panel tray side rails into the bay
guide rails (see Figure 5-22). Ensure that the blank
panel tray side rails (see Figure 5-22, A) are inside
the bay guide rails (see Figure 5-22, B).
