The two air flow columns are separated to ensure that the air intake column is kept as cool as possible. In areas of the test rack where there are
not hardware components separating the columns, the ECUTS has filler panels or brush panels to keep cool and hot air separate while still
allowing cables to pass between the front and rear of the test rack.
To prevent the ECUTS from overheating, adhere to the following cool air intake and hot air exhaust guidelines when adding additional
instruments or components to the ECUTS:
•
Keep the air intake and exhaust columns inside the test rack separate.
•
Position components inside the test rack so that they intake cool air from the air intake column and exhausts hot air through the hot air
exhaust column.
•
Ensure the air intake temperature of all components is at or below the maximum specified intake temperature for your application
environment.
•
Ensure components added in the front of the test rack can pull cool air from outside the system and exhaust hot air through the hot air
exhaust column. However, do not add additional air intake or exhaust panels to the front of the test rack, as this may disrupt cooling
elsewhere inside the system.
•
Do not block the air intake or exhaust path of any component that is part of the original shipping configuration of the ECUTS.
Configuring Pneumatics
The ECUTS does not ship ready for use with facility compressed air. To configure the ECUTS pneumatics to route compressed air, use the
following guidelines:
•
Use 6 mm outer diameter tubing to connect to the pneumatic air port on the back of the test rack.
•
Mount pneumatic components such as regulators and valves on the bottom of the test or in empty test rack space.
•
If installed, do not remove the ECUTS ballast plates from the bottom of the test rack. Removing the ballast plates may cause the ECUTS
to become unstable.
•
Connect to the pneumatic output ports using 6 mm outer diameter tubing.
Note
Available pneumatic output ports on the mass interconnect are J9, J10, or J16 (if populated), in the pin 1 location.
