About the VGA
Circuitry
The Headland Technologies HT216 VGA controller
circuitry on the
uses local bus technology to
bypass the standard AT bus. By eliminating the need
to use the slower 8 MHz bus, the VGA system delivers
fast VGA graphics with speeds approaching those of
expensive co-processor based add-in cards.
The
has a number of features designed
specifically to optimize the graphics performance in
Windows and other graphical environments.
Source-Destination Raster Operation
Separate memory and dot clocks (allows the
32 to handle various tasks simultaneously)
Fast Page Memory Support
cache technology (eliminates CPU wait
conditions during CPU
to display memory)
Hardware Cursor (provides crisp cursor response in
environments such as Windows)
Other features include the capacity to provide up to
1024x768 pixel resolution with 16 colors, both inter-
laced and non-interlaced (with 1024
video memory
and a supporting monitor). The circuitry also supports
refresh rates up to 76 Hz (with a supporting monitor)
to eliminate monitor flicker and reduce eye strain.
