The following are some examples of beep codes and
how to decode them. A long beep is indicated by “LB,”
and a short beep is indicated by “sb.”
Example 1:
You hear the following beep codes:
LB sb sb LB sb sb sb sb sb LB
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 6 9 10
Long beeps occur in positions
and 10. Position 1
Indicates the start of the beep decoding. Position 4
indicates a keyboard error, and position
indicates a
RAM parity error.
Example 2:
You hear the following beep codes:
Beep LB
sb sb sb sb sb sb LB sb sb sb LB
1 2
3 4 5 6 7 6 9 10 11 12
Long beeps occur in positions 6 and 12. Position 1
indicates the start of beep decoding, position 8 indi-
cates a RAM refresh failure, and position 12 indicates
a CMOS RAM failure.
