10. Write down the modem’s port, interrupt, address, and
highest speed. You will need this information to set up any
“legacy” (non-Windows 95) communications software you
install.

11. Click on the
General tab. Select the Multi-Tech
MT5634ZPW-PCI and click on the
Properties button to
review the modem’s default communications settings. Do not
change any settings unless you have special requirements.
12. Click on the
Dialing Properties button and review your
dialing settings. If you must dial
9 to get an outside line, type
9 in the local and long distance boxes. If you have call
waiting service, disable it to prevent it from interrupting a
data or fax transmission.
13. Exit the
Modems Properties sheet.
How to Remove Your Old Modem from Windows 95
If your MultiModemZPW-PCI replaces another modem, the old
modem installation remains in Windows even after you install the
new modem, and the old modem is still selected in
HyperTerminal and other Windows 95 applications. Although
you can change the application connection descriptions one at a
time, it is easier to force Windows 95 applications to use the
MultiModemZPW-PCI by removing the old modem installation
from Windows.
1.
Select
Start, Settings, Control Panel.
2.
Double-click the
Modems icon to open the Modems
Properties sheet.
3.
In the list box, select the old modem.
4.
Click
Remove, then click Close.
5.
The next time you dial a HyperTerminal connection, it will
select your new modem and ask you to confirm the
selection.
