All operating elements and connections de-
scribed can be found on the fold-out page 3.
1 Operating Elements and
Connections
1.1 Front panel
1
Volume control INPUT for the input channels
CH 1 to CH 6
2
Tone controls BASS and TREBLE
3
Control MASTER for the master volume
4
LED PEAK; will light up when the output sig-
nal has reached the maximum level
If this LED lights up frequently, the amplifier is
overloaded. In this case, turn back the vol-
ume control INPUT (1) for the corresponding
input channel or the control MASTER (3) for
the master volume
5
LED SIGNAL; will light up when a signal is
present at the output
6
POWER switch
7
Power LED ON
1.2 Rear panel
8
DIP switches for each of the input channels
CH 1 to CH 6:
PHANTOM
to activate the 48 V phantom power for the
XLR/6.3 mm jack
MIC/LINE
to select the input sensitivity (microphone
level or line level)
VOX (CH 1 and CH 2 only)
to activate the talkover function (level attenu-
ation of the other input channels when an
announcement is made via this channel)
CHIME (CH 1 only)
to activate or deactivate (position OFF) a
chime via a momentary pushbutton switch
connected to the terminals CHIME (21)
9
Input (combined 6.3 mm/XLR jack, balanced)
to connect a microphone or a signal source
with line level for each of the channels CH 1
to CH 6
10
Input (RCA jacks) to connect a signal source
with line level for each of the channels CH 1
to CH 6
When connecting both RCA jacks (e. g.
stereo signal from a CD player), the signals
will create the sum (mono).
11
Mains jack for connection to a socket (230 V~/
50 Hz) via the mains cable provided
12
Support for the mains fuse
Always replace a blown fuse by one of the
same type!
13
Clamping screw for a ground connection, if
required (e. g. in case of hum problems)
14
Screw terminals for an emergency power
supply (24 V )
15
Screw terminals for connecting the speakers
16
Protection cover for the speaker terminals
17
6.3 mm jacks to connect the speakers, in par-
allel to the corresponding screw terminals
(15)
18
6.3 mm jack SEND to connect the input of a
unit for signal processing (e. g. equalizer,
compressor)
If this jack is used, the internal signal path will
be interrupted.
19
6.3 mm jack RETURN to connect the output
of a unit for signal processing
If this jack is used, the internal signal path will
be interrupted.
20
Output SLAVE OUT (RCA jack) to connect
another amplifier or a recorder; at this output,
the mixed signal of the inputs will be avail-
able, independent of the volume control
MASTER (3)
21
Screw terminals to connect a momentary
pushbutton switch to activate the chime, e. g.
to precede announcements
22
Screw terminals to connect a microphone or
a signal source with line level to the input
channel CH 1, as an alternative to the con-
nection via its combined XLR/6.3 mm jack (9)
2 Safety Notes
This unit corresponds to all required directives of
the EU and is therefore marked with .
Please observe the following items in any case:
G
The unit is suitable for indoor use only. Protect
it against dripping water and splash water,
high air humidity and heat (admissible ambi-
ent temperature range 0 – 40 °C).
G
Do not place any vessel filled with liquid on the
unit, e. g. a drinking glass.
G
The heat generated within the unit must be
dissipated by air circulation. Therefore, do not
cover the air vents.
G
Do not operate the unit and immediately dis-
connect the mains plug from the socket
1. if the unit or the mains cable is visibly dam-
aged,
2. if a defect might have occurred after the unit
was dropped or suffered a similar accident,
3. if malfunctions occur.
In any case the unit must be repaired by
skilled personnel.
G
Never pull the mains cable to disconnect the
mains plug from the socket, always seize the
plug.
G
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never
use water or chemicals.
G
No guarantee claims for the unit and no liabil-
ity for any resulting personal damage or mate-
rial damage will be accepted if the unit is used
for other purposes than originally intended, if it
is not correctly connected or operated, or if it
is not repaired in an expert way.
G
Important for U. K. Customers!
The wires in this mains lead are coloured in
accordance with the following code:
green/yellow = earth
blue = neutral
brown = live
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of
this appliance may not correspond with the
coloured markings identifying the terminals in
your plug, proceed as follows:
1. The wire which is coloured green and yel-
low must be connected to the terminal in the
plug which is marked with the letter E or by
the earth symbol , or coloured green or
green and yellow.
2. The wire which is coloured blue must be
connected to the terminal which is marked
with the letter N or coloured black.
3. The wire which is coloured brown must be
connected to the terminal which is marked
with the letter L or coloured red.
Warning – This appliance must be earthed.
3 Applications
This amplifier with an RMS output power of
120 W is specially designed for application in PA
systems. At its output, either PA speakers
(100 V/70 V) or low-impedance speakers (min.
impedance 8 Ω) may be used. Further features:
– 6 input channels to be switched to line level
or microphone level with XLR/6.3 mm and
RCA jacks, channel 1 with additional screw
terminals
– phantom power (48 V) to be activated sepa-
rately for each channel
– insert facility via 6.3 mm jacks for an audio
unit for signal processing (automatic volume
control, equalizer, etc.)
– automatic priority circuit (talkover) to be
selected separately for channel 1 and chan-
nel 2
– signal chime to be activated by additional
momentary pushbutton switch, e. g. to pre-
cede announcements
4 Setting Up the Amplifier
The amplifier is designed for installation into a
rack for units with a width of 482 mm (19″), but it
can also be used as a table top unit. In any case,
make sure that air will circulate freely through all
vents to provide a sufficient cooling of the power
amplifier.
4.1 Rack installation
For installation into a rack, remove the two front
screws each on the left and right sides of the
housing and use them to screw on the two
mounting brackets provided (
fig. 3).
For rack installation, 2 RS (rack spaces)
= 89 mm are required. To prevent the rack from
becoming top-heavy, insert the amplifier into the
lower section of the rack. The front panel alone
is not sufficient for fixing it safely. In addition, lat-
eral rails or a bottom plate must secure the unit.
If the unit is to be put out of operation
definitively, take it to a local recycling
plant for a disposal which will not be
harmful to the environment.
WARNING
The unit uses dangerous mains
voltage. Leave servicing to skilled
personnel only and do not insert
anything into the air vents. Inex-
pert handling or modification of the
unit may result in electric shock.
WARNING
Never operate the amplifier
without the cover; touching the
terminals may result in electric
shock.
