8 Cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance
8.1 Cleaning and disinfection of outer surfaces and the working chamber
Outer surfaces and the working chamber of the Stainer are cleaned and disinfected
with a soft cloth and a cleansing disinfecting agent once a week or more often, depending
on the pollution intensity.
CAUTION!
DO NOT TREAT THE LID OF THE STAINER WITH SOLVENTS.
8.2 Flow-through trough and drain system
Clean the flow-through trough with a lab brush or toothbrush no less than once a
week. After cleaning, wash the flow-through trough. The <CONTINUOUS> mode can be
used for washing the flow-through trough (set in the menu «SERVICE»):

To prevent the growth of bacteria, it is necessary to disinfect the flow-through trough
and to wash the drain system.
a) Drain the flow-through trough and wipe it with a soft cloth and a disinfecting
agent.
b) To wash the drain, cautiously pour 5% sodium hypochlorite solution into the
drainage hole of the flow-through trough.
c) When the treatment is complete, thoroughly wash the flow-through trough and
the drain with the water, switching on the Stainer for several minutes (for filling
and refilling of the flow-through trough). If necessary, repeat the washing.
If the drain hose is clogged, it has to be cleaned or changed to a new one. To clean
or change a drain hose:
a) Take off the clamp from the water outlet.
b) Disconnect the hose, clean it with a water stream.
c) After cleaning/changing the drain hose, perform the connection of the hose in
reverse order.
8.3 Troughs for reagents
Pour off the reagents from troughs, clean the troughs with a cleansing agent,
thoroughly wash the troughs with water and dry them.
8.4 Racks
Remove all stains contaminations from the racks with a cleansing agent, thoroughly
wash the racks and dry them.
