1. When average fuel consumption and average speed displays are abnormal.

Check the multi-center display unit con-
nected into system on service mode.
Does MU light on the display?
Check the connections between the
multi-center display unit and the en-
gine-ECU. Replace the multi-center display unit.

Check the harness between the multi-
center display unit and the engine-ECU,
and Replace the if necessary.
NG
NO
Check the harness.

Disconnect MUT- II
Measure at multi-center display con-
nector C-52.

Connector disconnected.

Voltage between terminal (36) and
body earth
OK: Ignition switch ON: System

NG: Ignition switch OFF: 0 ± 1 V
Check a voltage on (5) terminal of C-53
connector after C-53 connector shall
be out.

Check the harness between multi-cen-
ter display unit and junction block and
Replace the if necessary.
2. When cruising distance display is abnormal.

Does the service mode show fuel amount correctly?

NO An inaccurate fuel amount may be displayed for a while after
refuelling.
In addition, it depends on road and driving conditions whether an
accurate fuel amount is displayed.
Measure at multi-center display connector C-52.

Voltage between terminal (33) and body earth
OK: 0.1 ± 3.0 V

Replace the multi-center display unit.
Check the harness between multi-center display unit and the fuel
gauge unit, and Replace the if necessary.
Carry out troubleshooting according to procedure 5.1. Are the average fuel consumption and average vehicle speed
displayed normally?
