Mail Bin Modes
The 10-bin and 5-bin mail-bins have three modes: Mailbox, Job
Separator and Stacker. Additionally, the 5-bin mail-bin has a fourth
mode called Shift. It is very important to follow all of the instructions
provided regarding these modes. Failure to enter settings as described
in these sections will prevent documents from being output correctly.
Mailbox
• In this mode, each bin can be assigned to a particular person or
group. Any print job performed by that person or group is output
to the appropriate bin
• Each bin can be addressed individually as the output destination.
• Note that the bin assignments described above can be made for 10-
bin mail-bins 2 through 10, and 5-bin mail-bins 2 through 5. You
cannot specify Bin 1 as a mailbox.
Note
Job Separator
• Jobs are automatically separated by assigning a bin to each job,
which may include multiple copies. Jobs are output sequentially
into bins that are not being used as mail boxes. The sequence of
the 10-bin mail-bin is from the lowest numbered bin to the highest
(from top to bottom). The sequence for the 5-bin mail-bin is from
the lowest numbered bin to the highest (from bottom to top).
• Use MAIL BOX SET from the System Menu of the control panel to
enter mailbox settings; these settings must also be entered into the
Mailbox Setting dialog of the printer driver (see page 4-36). If Mail
Box Set settings entered through the control panel conflict with Mail-
box settings that were entered through the printer driver, the control
panel settings will be prioritized.
• When the printer is being used by multiple clients in a network envi-
ronment, all users of the printer are strongly urged to use the same
Mailbox settings.
• The Job Separator and Stacker functions are directly linked to the Mail-
box settings of the control panel.
