5.4 Developer and Toner Troubleshooting
Sympton Check Point Possible Cause Countermeasure
Developer Overflow The developer
overflows out to the
front face of the
developing roller.
The inner magnet roller
is rotating, but the
rotation of the sleeve
roller stops.
Use a vacuum cleaner to
clear the overflowed
developer. Then replace
the developing unit. If the
sympton is not cleared,
call service engineer.
Toner Discharge Small amount of toner
is discharged from
below the developing
roller sometimes.
Toner is discharged from
where the PU sealed on
the front face of the
developing roller peeled
off.
Attach the peeled seal, or
replace the developing
unit.
Toner Odor Toner oder is released
during fusing.
The air filter has reached
its service life.
Replace the air filter.
Toner oder is released
from the air filter
blower opening.
1.The air filter is not set.
2.The frame of the air
filter is strained.
1.Set the air filter
correctly.
2.Replace the air filter.
Toner oder is released
from the fuser exit
blower or the rear
cover fan (upper)?
1.The air filter blower is
stopped.
2.The fuser cover glass is
not set or is broken.
1.Check the power source
of the air filter blower. On
MAINTENANCE menu,
select OPERATION sub
menu and then select
“1E:AIR FILTER” to
check the air filter blower.
2.Call service engineer.
