4.2.2.7  Timing 

This configuration item determines the source of timing for the SDH WAN link.  When used 
with  “dark  fibre”  one  or  both  ends  should  be  configured  for  Internal  Timing.    When 
operating and connected to an SDH network port it should be configured for loop timing.

4.2.2.8  C1/J0 Selection 

Older  SDH  equipment  defines  the  C1  byte  within  the  section  overhead.    More  modern 
equipment redefined this overhead byte as Regenerator Section Trace. 

When  configured  as  J0,  a  section  trace  string,  or  upto  16  characters,  may  be  defined  to 
identify the link. 

 

4.2.2.9  J0 Transmit 

This  menu  item,  only  available  when  J0  mode  is  selected,  allows  the  user  to  define  a 
section trace string.  This string may be upto 16 characters as shown:
