Installing the towing eye

Press the mark on cover

inwards and
remove.

Screw in the towing eye clockwise as far as it
will go and tighten.

Make sure that cover

engages in the
bumper when you remove the towing eye.

NOTE Damage due to incorrect use of
the towing eye
When a towing eye is used to recover a vehi‐
cle, the vehicle may be damaged in the proc‐
ess.

Only use the towing eye to tow away or
tow start the vehicle.

The automatic transmission may be damaged
in the process of tow-starting vehicles with
automatic transmission.

WARNING Risk of accident and injury
due to overloaded lines
If you manipulate or bridge a faulty fuse or if
you replace it with a fuse with a higher
amperage, the electric line could be overloa‐
ded.
This could result in a fire.

Always replace faulty fuses with speci‐
fied new fuses containing the correct
amperage.

NOTE Damage caused by incorrect fuses
Incorrect fuses may cause damage to electri‐
cal components or systems.

Only use Mercedes-Benz approved
fuses with the correct fuse rating.
Blown fuses must be replaced with fuses of the
same rating, which you can recognise by the col‐
our and fuse rating. The fuse ratings are listed in
