Exterior Lam p Failure Indicator
Lam p
W ith the key in steering lock
position 2, a dim ind icato r lam p
com es on, and goes out w hen the
eng in e is running.
W ith the key in steering lock p osi­
tion 2 or w ith the engine running,
a b right illu m in atio n of this lam p
indicates an e xterior lam p failure.
If an exterior lam p fails, the in­
dica to r lam p w ill com e on only
when that lam p is sw itched on.
If a brake or turn signal lam p fails,
the lam p fa ilu re ind icato r w ill com e
on w hen applying the brake or
actuating the turn signal and stay
on until the engine is turned off.
Note:
The ind icato r lam p w ill also com e
on if an inco rre ct bulb is installed.
If a dditional ligh ting e q u ip m en t is
installed (e.g. a u xilia ry headlam ps
etc.) be certain to co nn ect into the
fuse before the failure ind icato r
m onitoring unit in o rder to avoid
dam aging the system .
S eat Belt W arning Lam p
W ith the key in steering lock
position 2, the w arning lam p
com es on and an a udible w arning
sounds for a short tim e if the
d riv e r’s seat belt is not fastened.
A fter starting the engine, the
w arning lam p b links for a brief
period to rem ind the d river and
p assengers to fasten seat belts
before d riving off.
Brake Pad W e a r In d icato r Lam p
The brake pad w ear indicator
lam p in the instrum ent cluster
com es on w hen the key in the
steering lock is turned to posi­
tion 2 and goes out w hen the
engine is running.
If the ind icato r lam p lights up
during braking, this indicates that
the front w heel brake pads are
w orn dow n (on ve hicles equipped
w ith ASR, it indicates that the front
a n d /o r rear w heel brake pads are
w orn down).
Have the brake system checked at
yo ur a uthorized M ercedes-B enz
dealer as soon as possible.
