Attention
:
This product uses a 3M adhesive product that requires installation and curing temperatures of at least 20°C for 24 hours
to develop maximum adhesion to the hood. Adhesion can be promoted by warming the contact areas on the hood with a hair
dryer.
INSTALLATION
1. Be sure that hood is clean and dry inside and out.
2. Open the hood and center the deflector on it. Do not remove protective backing from the adhesive tape mounted on the deflector.
3. Make sure the deflector is nested into the hood, then with a piece of chalk or grease pencil make 2 or 3 reference marks on the
underside of the hood and mounting tab of the deflector to aid in installation. Set the deflector aside.
4. Using the alcohol wiping pad provided, clean all areas on the underside of the hood where the adhesive tape will contact the hood.
5. Remove the protective backing from the adhesive tape.
6. Using the reference marks established in step 3, mount the deflector to the hood and firmly press it into place. Be sure the deflector is
fully seated to the underside of the hood and that the ‘E’ clips, already installed on the outer wings of the deflector, are sitting on top of
the hood and not preventing the deflector from seating properly.
7. Install the anti-abrasion film pads directly under where the ‘E’ clips will fit on the hood, wrap the pads over the hood edge and
underneath by approx ½".
8. Install the ‘E’ clips by gently pulling the deflector wings towards the leading edge of the hood until they slide over and clip onto the hood
edge.
9. Install the five (5) bumpons on the hood as shown below.
Attention: The bumpons must be installed on the hood not the
deflector!!!!
If the bumpons are installed on the deflector, they will wear through the paint.
10. On some vehicles it may be necessary to adjust the hood bumpers and/or latch for proper clearance.
Note: Do not pull on the deflector when closing or opening the hood
.
OPTIONAL MOUNTING METHOD
1.
Follow steps 1-6 as above.
2.
Using a 3/32" drill bit, drill four holes in the hood centered through the holes already included on the mounting tabs of the deflector. Use care when
drilling not to damage the hood or deflector while doing this step.
3.
Install washers on the screws provided; the rubber part of the washer will seat against the deflector, insert into the holes and snug the screws in.
Do not over tighten screws.
4.
Continue with step 7 above.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Clean the deflector with a mild soap and water solution or plastic cleaner only. Do not use chemicals or solvents.
Periodically check to make sure the bumpons are in place and the deflector is secure.
Avoid using automatic car washes.
Do not pull on deflector when opening or closing the hood.
