W e recom m end that all infants
and children be restrained at all
tim es w hile the ve hicle is in
m otion.

The use of infant or ch ild re
straints is required by law in all
50 states and all C anadian pro
vinces.
Infants and sm all ch ild re n should
be seated in an infant or child
restraint system , w hich is properly
secured by a lap belt or lap belt
portion of a lap -sh o ulde r belt, and
that com plies with U.S. Federal
M otor V ehicle Safety S tandard
213 and C anadian M otor V ehicle

provided with the restraint.
W hen using any infant or child
restraint system , be sure to ca re
fully read and follow all m anufac
tu re r’s instructions for installation
and use.

fro n t seating positions.
R ear-facing child restraints
m ust not be used in th e fro n t
p as se n g er seat. T h ey could be
struck by th e airbag w h en it
in flates in a crash . If this
happens, a child in the
restraint could be serio u sly
injured.
In fan ts and sm all child ren
should n ev er be held on the
lap w h ile th e v eh ic le is in m o
tion. D uring an a cc id en t they
would be alm o st im p o ssib le to
hold, and could be crushed
b etw een th e adult and the
dashboard.
In fan ts and sm all child ren
should never share a seat belt
w ith an o th er o ccupant. During
an accid en t, th e y could be
crushed b etw een th e occu p an t
and seat belt.
Warning!
C hildren too big fo r child re
straint system s should ride in
rear seats using reg ular seat
belts. Position s ho u ld er belt
across ch e st and shoulder, not
fa c e or neck. A boo ster seat
m ay be n ec es s ary to achieve
pro p er belt positioning.
W h en th e child restraint is not
in use, rem ove it from th e car
or s ec u re it w ith th e seat belt
to p revent th e child restraint
from b ecom ing a p ro jectile in
th e event o f an accident.
U.S.A. M odels only:
Since 1986 all U.S. ch ild restraints
co m p ly with U.S. regulations
w itho ut the use of a tether strap.
