Traveling Abroad

you should request p ertinent
inform ation from your authorized
M ercedes-B enz dealer.
W in ter Driving
Have your car w interized at your
authorized M ercedes-B enz dealer
before the onset of w inter.
• C hange the eng in e oil if the
engine contains an oil w hich is
not approved for w inter o pe ra ­
tion. For viscosity (SAE class)
and filling quantity, see
C apacities: Fuels, Coolants,
L ub rica nts etc. in Index.
• C heck eng in e coolant
a n tic o rro s io n /a n tifre e z e
concentration.
• A d ditive for the w ind shield
w ash er and h eadlam p clea nin g
system : Add M B C oncentrate
” S ” to a prem ixed w ind shield
w asher s o lv e n t/a n tifre e z e
w hich is fo rm u la te d for below
freezing te m p era ture s (see
Index).
• T est battery: Battery ca pa city
drops w ith d ecrea sing am b ie n t
tem perature. A w ell charged
battery e nsures that the engine
can alw a ys be started, even at
low a m b ie n t tem peratures.
• Tires: W e recom m end M + S
rad ia l-p ly tires on all four
w heels for the w inter season.
O bserve perm issible m axim um
speed for M + S rad ia l-p ly tires
and the legal speed lim it.
Note:
In w inte r operation, the m axim um
effe ctiven ess of the a cceleration
slip control can only achieved with
M + S rad ia l-p ly tires reco m m e n d ­
ed by M ercedes-B enz.
Snow C hains
Use o nly snow chains that are
tested and recom m ended by
M ercedes-B enz. Y our authorized
M ercedes-B enz dealer w ill be glad
to advise you on this subject.
C hains should only be used on
the rear w heels. Follow the m anu­
fa c tu re r’s m ounting instructions.
S now ch ains should only be
d riven on snow covered roads at
speeds not to exceed 30 mph
(50 k m /h ). R em ove chains as
soon as possible w hen driving on
roads w itho ut snow.
