5.3.1 Installing a Fabric Board (sFB-8500)
Up to four sFB-8500 boards can be installed at the front of the chassis to achieve a fully non block-
ing system.
To install a sFB-8500 module in the chassis:
1. Verify that the ejectors are unlocked by pressing the red button.
2. Verify that screws move freely and won't block ejector
3. Carefully set the board into the side rails.
•
Slide the board slowly into the chassis until the ejectors begin to engage on the chassis
edge. When sliding in the board, push the board's front panel at the center.
•
Do not perform this step pushing the ejectors.
•
Make sure that the front panel of the fabric board is completely vertical, and that it is
pushed all the way in and is level with the front panel of the chassis.
4. Gently press the ejectors inward until the locks snap.
5. Tighten the four security screws. It is recommended to tighten the screws in a “crisscross”
sequence (top right, bottom left, top left, bottom right).
6. Check the LED indicators.
5.3.2 Extracting a Fabric Board (sFB-8500)
To extract an installed sFB-8500 from the chassis:
1. Release/unlock the security screws.
2. Press the red tabs to unlock the ejectors.
3. Wait for the blue Hot-Swap LED to light.
4. Press the ejectors outwards and slowly slide out the board.
•
Make sure that each sMBE board has an sFB-8500 board installed right next to it.
The sFB 8500 located next to the master sMBE board may not be removed (hot-
swapped) during operation.
•
Use ESD Precautions.
•
Use maximum torque setting of 3 when using and electric screw driver.
•
For installation order see “Module Insertion Rules” on page 59.
Due to their delicate structure, use caution when inserting fabric boards; gently lock the
board ejectors in place.
The maximum torque force is 3 (10 lb. in).
