Left and right brackets are marked “L” for left and “R” for right. When installed, ensure that the
grips face outwards.
To install the rack-gripping cabling guide brackets:
1. Install the cabling guide brackets at the rear of the rack itself, on the rail, and not on the 8500 chassis.
From the cable management perspective, it does not matter where on the rack the 8500 is installed.
2. Install the cabling guide brackets in parallel with the 8500 chassis so that each line board lines
up with its corresponding hanger on the bracket.

Shipping Guidelines and Instructions
A very common practice of vendors is to install the switch in the rack prior to the shipping of the
complete racks (with the switches in them) to the customer sites. Such shipping requires extreme
caution and preparation in advance.
To further stabilize the chassis for transport:
Secure the chassis onto the rail by using three 8-32 screws, 3/8" tooth washers, and flat washers, as
shown.
Figure 33: Screws, 3/8" Tooth Washer, and Flat Washers
Insert the screws into the oval holes and the threaded holes in the chassis side walls, shown.
If the rack is shipped with the Vantage 8500 switch installed in it, it is absolutely critical
to further stabilize the chassis for transport, as explained in the following procedure.
Otherwise, the Vantage 8500 switch will be damaged during transport.
It is also critical that after the transport, the screws are removed at the customer site.
