Installing Modules
5.1
Chassis Slot Numbering
The chassis slots are numbered as follows:
•
For sFB-8500 modules, the chassis slots are numbered at the front of the chassis from left to
right, i.e. - the left most slot is slot no. 1; the adjacent one to its right is slot no. 2, and so on.
•
For sLB-1024 modules, the chassis slots are numbered at the back of the chassis from top to
bottom, i.e. - the top slot is slot no. 1; the one below it is slot no. 2, and so on.

5.2
Module Insertion Rules
When you install plug-in modules, adhere to the following rules:
•
If you are using only one sMBE board, install it on the left sMBE slot.
•
For sFB-8500 boards, use slot no. 1 (left) when only one sMBE board is installed.
•
The sFB-8500 boards, must be installed in the following order:
The Vantage 8500 switch line boards and modules are delivered pre-installed in
the chassis, and depending on your original order. This chapter is intended to
guide you when you install additional modules, or when a certain module has to
be removed and then re-installed.
